We often find ourselves stressed out by tons of tasks in front of us. So how do we take a moment to get away from this overwhelming situation when duty calls? We have created six quick and easy ways to destress while you’re at work.
Number 1: Breathe in, breathe out – Yup, breathing in and out in a slow manner may do lots of good to your mind and body. It helps increase oxygen to your brain, thus the feeling of being relaxed. Repeat this all throughout the day to see its effect.
Number 2: Try stretching – Sitting for long hours may take a toll not just on your body but on your mind as well. Stretching helps with the circulation of your blood. So go ahead and do a quick stretch of your legs, arms, back, and neck.
Number 3: Create a checklist – Being organized in and out of work means that you don’t miss important things on your daily workload. With a daily checklist, you’re also able to prioritize your tasks and reduces the risk of getting overwhelmed by piled-up things-to-do.
Number 4: Use essential oils – Essential oils have been proven to help with relaxing the mind especially the lavender oil. It’s very famous for reducing anxiety, headaches, and sometimes even depression.
Number 5: Stare at green spaces – It’s said that to relax your eyes, it helps to stare at something green. Perhaps, a small plant on your desk would be a great help to relax those eyes that are tired from staring at the monitor for too long.
Number 6: Listen to relaxing music – While not everyone is fond of music, listening to soothing tones and music a few minutes a day while closing your eyes can help alleviate all the unnecessary stress that is present at work.
Number 7: Quick nap – When we say quick, we actually mean 5-10 minute nap. This may seem impossible but to those few who are great at power naps, this can be really useful. It recharges your brain and whole mentality making you more productive.
Number 8: Meditate – Now, you don’t have to be 100% knowledgeable on meditating and yoga. It might sound complicated if you put it that way. Meditation could be just closing your eyes, relaxing your mind by not thinking of anything, and releasing all those negative vibes. 10 minutes of this and you’ll feel renewed right after.
Number 9: Have a quick chat – You might find that having a quick chat with a colleague or a friend about something apart from work will reduce the feeling of anxiety and might actually increase happy hormones.
It’s important to get the job done but there’s no way you can do it when you’re feeling so stressed just thinking about the work you would do. Knowing how to destress yourself instantly at work will help you be more productive. Destressing outside work like getting a massage regularly will boost not only your body’s immune system but more importantly your positivity as well!
