Candela Gentle Max Pro Laser

Candela Gentle Pro Laser Technology

For over 20 years, whenever hair removal clinics across the globe wanted to provide their guests with the Gold Standard in laser hair removal, they have turned to the Candela Gentle Pro series of lasers.

Dynamic Cooling maximizes skin protection and client comfort by delivering targeted bursts of non-toxic cryogen to the top layers of the skin milliseconds before the laser pulse. This evaporating coolant doesn’t affect underlying targeted hair roots and quickly evaporates without leaving any messy residue. Ask other Laser practitioners if their system has cryogen-based cooling or if they still use old-style gel and contact system?

As a result of Dynamic Cooling, no gels are needed to be applied to the skin. That reduces client discomfort and increases treatment speed, making us the best laser hair removal in Orlando, Florida. Would you like your procedures to be clean & quick OR messy & slow?

Studies have shown up to 80% permanent hair reduction in just 3 treatments with Candela Gentle Pro system. Pick J Sterling’s Laser Hair Removal for one of the fastest results available in the market.

Science & Technology

A beam of focused laser light is targeted on cleansed, cooled skin. The light is absorbed by the darker pigmented hair shaft, and gets converted to heat energy. The heat destroys the hair shaft & surrounding cells responsible for hair growth. Rest of the skin reflects most of the light energy, absorbing only a small portion, resulting in slight discomfort.

Laser was first used in medical field in 1961. Since then, millions of laser procedures have been performed around the world. However, significant technological advances have been made in the past decade for increased effectiveness, safety, and applicability to different hair colors and skin colors.

IPL stands for “Intensed Pulse Light”, it has many different wavelengths in it, and it is not laser. Think of IPL as an unfocused mix of all bands from the rainbow, not optimized for a specific objective vs. laser as a focused band targeted for specific objective. IPL is like shooting five different arrows, and hoping one of them will hit the target, fingers crossed. Hence, IPL for hair removal has much less effectiveness, and a higher risk of adverse reactions. Use of IPL for laser hair removal in clinical setting is now almost obsolete. While IPL is effective for other cosmetic procedures, years of scientific evidence shows a set of specific wavelengths of laser is effective & safer choice for hair removal.

Electrolysis destroys one hair follicle at a time. The electrologist holds one hair shaft with a tool, and applies small amount of current from the electrolysis device, which destroys the hair follicle. It is lengthy, tedious, painful procedure – an ancient way of hair removal. Laser Hair Removal treats many hair follicles with every laser pulse. With Laser Hair Removal, even a large area like the legs can be treated in less than thirty minutes.

Research studies and our experience shows home based IPL laser hair removal devices are not effective, not a substitute for safe & clinical strength laser hair removal.

Shaving simply cuts the hair shaft up to the skin surface. The hair shaft and the cells producing the hair are intact & doing their job.

Waxing pulls hair out from its root, however, the surrounding cells in the hair follicle keep working, and a new hair will peek out in a couple of weeks.

Laser light is converted to heat energy, and permanently destroys the cells responsible for producing the hair, but not damage to the top of the skin or any other tissues.

Everyday millions of cells in our body are naturally destroyed, died, and replaced by new cells produced by our body. Only difference is, the cells destroyed by laser hair removal are not replaced by our body. However, those cells have no other function but to produce a strand of hair. You do not lose any other vital abilities when those hair producing cells are destroyed.

Laser is a focused beam of light energy. When light hits something, either the energy is absorbed or reflected out back. Because the dark pigment in hair shaft absorbs the laser energy, it is then converted to heat, destroying the surrounding cells responsible for hair growth. The skin surface absorbs only small portion of the light energy, resulting in temporary discomfort (like tanning) but no permanent damage.

No. There are two basic types of radiation, (1) Non-ionizing radiation, and (2) Ionizing radiation. Hair removal lasers produce “non-ionizing” radiation, which is simply the radiation of light and is FDA-cleared for your skin. Ionizing radiation which represents x-rays, ultraviolet and nuclear radiation is a completely different type of radiation and is not produced by hair removal lasers.

No, these are two different things. Sunlight have many different wavelengths in it. The harmful side is the ultraviolet group. The visible light is safe, and ranges from violet to red. Then the infrared group is not visible; it heats up your skin, but does not damage it like ultraviolets.

Now our laser hair removal beam has only a specific wavelength 1064nm from the infrared segment, which is scientifically known to be most absorbed by dark pigment in your hair. So you see, it does not have any of the harmful rays of the sun, so it is not damaging to your skin like sun exposure.

Laser hair removal works best on darker, pigmented hair, such as black, brown, and even red in some cases. It does not work on blonde or grey hair. Generally, lighter the hair color, more treatments you will need. Your technician will customize the treatment to be right for you and your hair color.
Yes! Other laser hair removal treatments don’t cater to all skin types, but our most advanced laser treatment caters to all skin tones. Your technician will customize the treatment to be right for you and your skin tone.

At J Sterling’s we use Candela Gentle Pro laser system. It generates 1064nm wavelength, also known as Nd:YAG wavelength. It is suitable for all skin types. It is safe & FDA-cleared.

We continuously stay up to date with latest developments in laser industry. We try different FDA-cleared safe lasers in our beta program. We look for safety, results, and minimal discomfort. In our experience, Candela Gentle Pro safely provides best results at minimal discomfort in today’s world.

If a better FDA-cleared hair removal system is invented in future, we would switch in the best interest of our guests.

Permanent side effects are rare and may include redness, swelling, hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, blistering, and purpura (a laser bruise) in the treated area-these usually do not last more than a few days.

Ultrasound gel is messy & uncomfortable. It is required for diode laser. It is not required, not recommended, and not applied with our Nd:YAG laser system.

Is it for me?

The most popular areas for women are the face and bikini line. For men, the back is the most popular.

Most of our guests love the silky smooth hair-free care-free feel, and add more areas. Many guests go full body lasered.

It is ideal for teenagers 13+ & adults. And, we often advise older clients with gray hair that it will most likely not respond well to a laser.

Laser hair removal des not affect your skin texture or skin tone. However, with hair & stubble gone, your skin will appear naturally clear & youthful.

Confidence, stubble-free flawless skin for life, and improved personal hygiene. I’m sold!

Yes, many men want reduction in thickness & length of body hair, but not total elimination. You can do that by continuing your treatments until desired results are achieved.
Yes you can.
You can create unique style as you want, for example this style.
We selectively do laser treatments in the areas that you do not want hair growth, giving you near-permanent results. Just come in shaved with the style that you want, and inform the technician of it. The technician will laser treat the area that is clean shaved. It is as simple as that.

Procedure & Safety

Some guests may feel a slight discomfort with each laser pulse, sometimes described as the snapping of a rubber band on the skin. This discomfort resolves quickly and is minimized by the patented Dynamic Cooling of our laser machine.
If you prefer to minimize your discomfort, please purchase topical anesthetic lotion “Lidocaine 4%”, and apply (at home or in our spacious restrooms) prior to the treatment. It is available over-the-counter at most pharmacies, does not need any prescription, and usually costs less than $10.
Treatment will take place in the dedicated laser room at our med-spa. Your technician will use a small handpiece to deliver each laser pulse and remove unwanted hair. A treatment could take as little as a few minutes to as long as an hour, depending on the treatment areas and the condition being treated.
For near-permanent hair removal, multiple treatments are required because laser pulse removes the hair roots that are in an active state. You need anywhere from 6 to 16 treatments for near-permanent and long-term hair removal. Most people need no more than 10 treatments.

You can book your first laser hair removal appt online thru our online booking system or give us a call at the spa number.

In most situations, you won’t consult with our doctor at the spa. Your laser technician will consult with the doctor. The supervising doctor goes thru our client records and files via telemedicine and provides supervision to the laser technician. In very rare situations if it is decided by the doctor and technician that you need to be seen by the doctor, an appt will be set up for the same, and it will be informed to you.

Yes, you can make appt appt for virtual or in-person consultation. Come in clean-shaved for in-person consultation. We may be able to perform the first service after the consultation. OR do a virtual consultation by video conferencing on your phone from the comfort of your couch.

Yes. We do have evening and weekend appointments. Head over to online booking, and select a day and time that works best for you.

Small area: 10 to 15 minutes
Medium area: 15 to 20 minutes
Large area: 15 to 25 minutes
XL area: 25 to 30 minutes
It saves you time if you get multiple areas done at the same time.
Yes! Other laser hair removal treatments don’t cater to all skin types, but there’s a Gentle Hair Removal treatment that’s right for you, no matter what your skin tone. Your technician will customize the treatment to be right for you and your skin tone.

Before Treatment

For about four weeks prior to treatment, avoid waxing, or plucking..
For morning appts, clean shave the day before. For afternoon appts, clean shave in the morning. Give at least a few hours after shaving so that your skin is no irritated from the shaving when you arrive.
Thoroughly cleanse any makeup, creams, oils. Apply sunblock (SPF 30 or above) before your treatment. Avoid expose the treatment area to sunlight prior to or immediately after treatment.
For hard-to-reach areas such as back, ask a family member for help. Or visit a barber shop.
Tip: For bikini area, use a handheld mirror to see hair growth.
If you arrive unshaved, we cannot perform the service, no matter what. Laser hair removal does not work on unshaved skin. In fact, it can damage the skin if someone performs laser on unshaved skin.
In rare situation, for highly sensitive skin, you can use a electronic trimmer without a guard for nearly similar result as shaving.
Please note that we may have to use less laser power to accommodate the trimmed instead of unshaved hair, resulting in more treatments required.
Waxing pulls out entire hair shaft from root. Laser requires hair shaft to work. So wait 4 weeks before scheduling laser appt, to give time for hair shaft to grow.
No, you do not need a doctor’s note. However, if you feel like it, you can consult with your doctor.

After Treatment

A cool compress or gel pack may be applied for additional comfort after your treatment. Any redness or swelling should resolve in a few hours.

After your laser treatment, prevent sun exposure by applying sunblock (SPF 30 or above). In the first few days after laser hair removal, don’t scrub or rinse the treated areas with abrasive skin cleansers. Your technician may advise additional precautions.

Yes, you can. There might be redness and some discomfort on the treated area for a day or two, but it should not cause work disruption in most cases.

Usually, laser hair removal treatments are done 4 to 8 weeks apart. Your technician will recommend your next appt the day after your first treatment.
Remember you came clean shaved for treatment, so there were hair shafts hiding beneath the surface of your skin.
The hair follicles have been destroyed by laser, so those hair shafts will slowly pull up & shed away over next couple of weeks. It may look like you’re seeing hair growth, but it is actually hair shedding. Those small hair shafts will shed away in coming days. Now remember that all hair follicles are not active at all the time, they activate in cycles, that’s the whole reason you need multiple treatments. So while the laser-treated follicles are shedding, the previously inactive follicles are becoming active & growing hair. So over next few weeks, you will start seeing hair growth again from those follicles. So then you again clean shave, and arrive for your next treatment 4 to 6 weeks later, as directed by your laser technician. Also note that different areas on your skin react at different pace to the laser treatment. So you may see “patchy” hair growth, but it will all even-out and gone by the end of your treatment plan.

Pricing & Payment

Most insurance companies do not offer reimbursement for cosmetic procedures. Consult your insurance carrier for conclusive information.

You can book your first laser hair removal appt online thru our online booking system or give us a call at the spa number.

No. The online booking system will ask for your card information just to hold the reservation. After you finish the first treatment, our spa associate will ask you whether you want to pay-as-you-go per treatment OR buy a six-pack. You pay accordingly during checkout.

However, if you prefer, you can go ahead & purchase the six-pack thru our online system in advance, and it will be ready for use at the time of checkout after service.

You pay after your treatment. After each treatment, you can pay-as-you-go per treatment or you can decide to buy a six-pack and use a treatment from the six-pack towards the service that you just received.

If you buy a package, any unused treatments are non-refundable for any reason. No exceptions whatsoever.

When you buy a package, the treatments expire in 3 years. Usually, you’ll use all six treatments within 6 to 8 months. We believe 3 years is a long enough time to make sure your package is used up. We had a client go through a pregnancy, so she took a pause in the treatments, resumed the treatments after delivery, and still finished her laser hair removal in Orlando in a year and a half.

No. You will be asked to fill out our intake forms before your first treatment. The forms and consultation go thru contra-indications.

If you have any contraindications, you cannot receive laser hair removal. You will not be charged anything in that situation.

Two things are not included in the laser hair removal cost in Orlando.

One: if you need numbing cream, you can purchase it from outside or from our spa. It is a 5% Lidocaine topical numbing cream 1.35oz bottle for $20.

Two: gratuities for your technician. Recommended gratuity is $10 or more per treatment.

Short answer is NO. Please read further below.
As with any elective cosmetic procedures, perceptions and results vary from client to client.
Most people need six to twelve treatments, some may need sixteen, and some even more. We offer 90% off touchups if you still have hair after sixteen treatments on an area. We have most reasonable prices and best system that money can buy. We try our best to get you highest satisfaction.
However, we cannot process refund for services already rendered under any circumstances.

You cannot. All treatments in a six-pack must be used by the same person.

You cannot. All treatments in six-pack must be used on the same area.

You cannot. The six-pack treatment is extra discounted, so it requires full upfront nonrefundable payment.

A retouching treatment is something somebody needs a few years down the line if they see some hair growth. We don’t do just retouching, because most likely if you have hair growth in an area, we need to do the whole area, so it is charged as a full regular service. There is no separate price lower price for retouching in any area.

Because we don’t believe in baiting people in. With us, you can expect honest upfront pricing same for all. Honesty & integrity is essential part of our work culture at J Sterling’s.

What are the Cons of Laser Hair Removal
